Having always drawn as part of my working life (see storyboards)
I am not only an artist but my hobby is Sea Fishing from charter boats around the country. I have fished from Scotland, Whitby Essex, Kent, Ramsgate Eastbourne and all the way down to Torquay, Brixton and Cornwall. It is a wonderful sport, both from the fact I get out to sea and fill my lungs with ozone, but I love the technical and natural study it brings.
From the boats I have witnessed Global Warming first hand. There are a lot of large movements of fish which goes unpublished.
All the fish you see here were caught by me and photographed on deck and then the photographic reference is used to draw fish in imagined scenes in with Caran d"Ache coloured pencils on Murano coloured Paper

Fishing with feather lures.
Mackerel are one of the finest and most colourful fish that come to the waters around England and are part of the Tuna family. Here's hoping that factory fishing will not make them extinct..
"Thornback Ray" gliding over a shallow sandbank in the Medway Delta.
Up to 2012 Thornbacks were abundant to a point that charter boats could catch up to 60 a day, now they are rarely seen..

Pollock are now getting rarer and there is now a size and catch limit
"Guilt Head Bream over sea structure"
Bream are becoming more abundant in English waters as the seas warm up and the fish move from the Mediterranean.
The fish are fiesty and great sport.
"Study of Sea Bass"
Sea Bass have made a remarkable come back since the 3-year-long ban on taking fish. The Bass still has a 2 Fish catch limit and must be over 42 cms in length.

Sea Bass are ferocious predators, anything from crab to virtually any fish that is smaller than itself, armed with spikes and armoured plating around the gills it is a true sports fish.
